Along the paved road to the Ngorongoro Crater from Arusha, close to the dusty little town of Karatu, a dirt road leads to lake Eyasi, “Njarasa” in the local language. Not deep and almost completely dry in some periods of the year, the lake is home to many animal species and is reknowned for housing two tribes along its banks: the Datoga and the Hadzabe.
